My Journey to Rise
I'm so glad you're here because I'd love to get to know you. But first, I bet you'd like to learn a little about me too...

In 2007, I took my first yoga class as a college elective. Throughout the semester long course, I received an introduction on practicing yoga and enjoyed the benefits of practicing with the same students week after week. I still distinctly remember my instructor and how she made me feel -- alive and full of peace.

Several years later I started doing yoga to overcome knee pain due to having unsuccessful double knee surgery from a sports injury. It hurt my knees to be sitting for long periods, it hurt to kneel (for example in table pose). But with a consistent yoga practice at a nearby studio my knee pain was gone within a few months! I started learning more about the mental and spiritual aspects of yoga and I was hooked. In 2013, I obtained my 200-hour certification and began teaching. Not long after that I moved to the beach and started my own yoga consulting business and made my living teaching yoga in studios, residential communities, gyms, resorts, and on the water with SUP yoga (yoga on stand up paddle boards anchored in calm water).

A few years later I received an amazing opportunity to be the manager at Santosha School of Natural Healthcare in Indiana where I oversaw the school's daily class schedule, teacher training program, massage schedule, Ayurvedic consults, special events, yearly retreats, business and marketing projects and more. While at Santosha I greatly deepened my knowledge by obtaining my 500-hour certification with over 1200 hours of study at Santosha, including 60+ apprentice classes taught and 25+ clinical sessions. Topics included Hatha yoga level 1 and 2 flows (beginner and intermediate/advanced yoga flows, athletic, restorative, hot yoga), breathing and meditation techniques, Ayurveda, bodywork, yoga anatomy, non-violent communication, yoga philosophy, Sanskrit and chanting, 12-step program, and developing one-on-one teaching skills for the individual's needs.

Settled with my family just north of Austin I'm continuing my journey of sharing yoga with the community around us.
